Green Eggs and Ham Pretzels – A playful twist on the classic Dr. Seuss favorite. These bite-sized treats are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, Dr. Seuss’ birthday celebrations, preschool parties, or an easy after-school snack. Made with pretzels, white candy melts, and green or yellow M&Ms, they are simple to prepare and a guaranteed hit with kids.

GREEN EGGS AND HAM
1) A leprechaun trail of coins around the house (my son loves pennies).
2) A little green surprise in the bathroom (simple green dye—boys love the silliness).
3) A snack inspired by Green Eggs and Ham—but this time the kids actually eat it. These pretzel bites look like tiny eggs on a bed of “ham” when you use pretzel sticks for the bacon effect.

These are quick to assemble, kid-friendly, and perfect for group events. If you’re planning a Dr. Seuss-themed classroom party or a festive St. Patrick’s Day snack, these Green Eggs and Ham Pretzels are a great choice.
What makes a great preschool snack for Dr. Seuss’ birthday or St. Patrick’s Day?
Simple, colorful, and easy to hold. These pretzel bites meet all those requirements. They are portioned for little hands, require minimal prep, and the ingredients are easy to find. I make these for class parties and they’re always popular.
HOW TO MAKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM TREATS
1. Arrange pretzels in a single layer on a cookie sheet. You can use pretzel sticks for a bacon look or square pretzels for an easy base.

2. Place a white candy melt or white chocolate wafer on top of each pretzel. Popular choices include Wilton white candy melts or Ghirardelli white chocolate. Put the cookie sheet in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 1–2 minutes—just until the melts soften and begin to flatten. Watch carefully so they don’t overheat.

3. Remove the sheet from the oven and immediately press a green or yellow M&M into the softened white chocolate to form the “egg.” Allow the chocolate to cool and harden completely before moving the pretzels.

If you want a memorable, easy-to-make treat for Dr. Seuss day or a festive St. Patrick’s snack, these are a winner. They’re also fun to make with kids—let them press the M&Ms onto the melted chocolate and arrange the pretzels.

Green Eggs and Ham
Ingredients
- Pretzel sticks or pretzel snaps (square pretzels)
- White candy melts or white chocolate wafers
- Green or yellow M&Ms
Instructions
- Place pairs of pretzels or pretzel snaps on a cookie sheet in a single layer.
- Top each pair with one white candy melt or white chocolate wafer. Heat in a 350°F oven for 1–2 minutes until the chocolate softens and begins to flatten.
- Remove from oven and immediately press a green or yellow M&M into the softened chocolate to create the “egg.” Let cool until the chocolate sets.
Notes
Tip: Watch the melts carefully in the oven—white chocolate softens quickly. You can also melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between bursts, then spoon or pipe the melted chocolate onto pretzels before topping with M&Ms.
