Last week we had a few holidays here in Croatia. While many people were happy to enjoy some time off, I have to admit that the break threw me completely out of rhythm. I was nowhere near the coast or the sea, and the extra days off disrupted my usual healthy eating and exercise routine. By the end of it, I had almost lost track of what day it was. Honestly, today does not feel like Monday at all, and I am still deciding whether that is a good thing or not.
Anyway, how was your weekend? Did you rest, recharge, and fill your batteries?
My weekend was fantastic. I attended the Food Blogging Conference Zagreb, and it was such a lovely experience. I finally had the chance to meet some wonderful food blogger friends I had previously known only online. There was delicious food prepared by Instagram star Sara Milletti, followed by an inspiring food photography workshop with Katharina Boden. It was creative, fun, and full of positive energy.
Last week, however, I did slack a little with my workouts. I only managed two runs because the week was hectic and the temperatures were almost unbearable. I am not completely happy about that, so today I decided to put exercise back at the top of my priorities, right next to healthy eating and taking care of myself every day. My message today is simple: if you have not already, make exercise your priority. No matter how busy life gets, how tired you feel, or how hot it is outside, get up, move your body, and do something good for your health. Physical activity is extremely important for your overall well-being.
Regular exercise supports a healthy lifestyle in so many ways. It helps keep the body strong, improves stamina, supports heart health, and can reduce the risk of several health problems, including type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and cardiovascular issues. Movement also helps us feel more connected to our bodies. When we exercise consistently, we are not only working on strength or fitness; we are building habits that improve the quality of everyday life. Regular activity truly helps us feel better, live better, and function better.
Exercise also has a powerful effect on the mind. Physical activity can influence chemicals in the brain, including serotonin, endorphins, and stress hormones. I talked about this last week when I shared how amazing I feel after running. I may feel tired afterward, but at the same time I feel lighter, calmer, and full of fresh energy. Running helps me clear my head and stay grounded. That feeling is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to it. It is not only about burning calories or following a fitness plan; it is about feeling healthy, strong, and mentally balanced.
To maintain good health and reduce the risk of health problems, health professionals often recommend at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. It does not have to be complicated. Walking, bike riding, running, fitness, yoga, dancing, stretching, or even a brisk walk around the neighborhood all count. Thirty minutes a day can make a real difference when done regularly. If you think you do not have time, try to create the time. Schedule it like any other important appointment. You are doing this for yourself, for your body, and for your future health.
Doing any physical activity is better than doing none. If you cannot do a full workout, do ten minutes. If you cannot run, walk. If you feel tired, stretch. The goal is not perfection. The goal is consistency. Small steps repeated every day can create a strong and lasting healthy routine.
Workout because you love yourself and your body, not because you hate it. Exercise for the energy, confidence, strength, and peace that a healthy lifestyle gives you. Move because your body deserves care. When you treat it well, it rewards you with better energy, better mood, and a stronger sense of balance. Trust me, once you feel the benefits of regular movement, you will want to keep going.
I will be outside running tonight. And what about you? Where will you be, and how will you move your body today?
Until next Monday… Hugs and kisses.
Xoxo,
